How To Make Your Own Acai Bowl
If you've been following our blog, you probably know Liesl and I both LOVE acai bowls and we never miss the opportunity to indulge in these healthy, nutrient packed fruit bowls. For those of you not familiar with acai bowls, it’s basically a smoothie in a bowl, made from delicious acai berries (a tropical superfood from Brazil with TONS of health benefits), pureed and topped with granola, chia seeds, coconut flakes, bananas, or any other seasonal fruit or toppings you fancy.
The Acai Bowl has been making its rounds on social media, but not just because it's super photogenic, it’s also the perfect breakfast food and it’s simply delicious. Luckily for us peeps living in Taipei, it's not that hard to find as most of the cafes here serve these delicious bowls (Click here to see The Best Acai Bowls in Taipei) But now that we've been staying at home mostly and dine-in at cafes and restaurants are banned due to covid, we've started making these yummy bowls at home, and thought we'd share our easy to make, acai bowl recipe with you.

Blender (We use a Nutribullet)
INGREDIENTS (for 1 serving)
1 pack frozen acai puree
1 precut banana (freeze 1/2 banana)
1/2 cup frozen berries
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cup plain yoghurt
1/2 cup milk (full cream, coconut OR almond)
1 tbs chia seeds
Any additional toppings such as coconut flakes, fruit, nuts, etc.
Slice 1/2 a banana and freeze in a ziploc bag, along with 1/4 cup blueberries (To get a real soft-serve consistency, make sure all fruit AND acai puree are frozen)
Once frozen, blend together banana slices, berries, acai puree, milk and yoghurt. Continue to blend until smooth.
Scoop into a serving bowl and top with sliced banana, blueberries, chia seeds, mango and any other desired toppings.
