A while ago I spotted this lush green, oasis-like cafe on Instagram that serves healthy vegetarian dishes, such as gourmet salads and tropical fruit smoothies, and knew right away that we HAD to go. I couldn’t wait to get my hands (and lips!) on one of their scrumptious salads, and as we’re still recovering from our carb-overload European vacations, fresh greens and smoothies were exactly what we needed.
Saladay is a chain vegetarian restaurant in Taipei, and a go-to for health-conscious people, where you’re assured to be served with wholesome and nutritious, freshly-made food. Their first location (and the one we visited) is just a few minutes' walk from Taipei Arena MRT Station, with smaller locations located in the food courts of Breeze Centre in Xinyi District, and Eslite in Dunhua Road.
Leafy green plants fill the walls from ceiling to floor, creating a beautiful backdrop and relaxing ambiance for enjoying a healthy meal on a hot summer’s day. At the entrance they have a salad bar with a wide assortment of toppings and dressings, which you can mix and match to create your own customized salad. You can also opt for one of the salads on their menu and add extra toppings as you wish. They also offer a variety of soups, pastas, paellas and risottos, too.
Liesl and I both started off our lunch with their flavorful and creamy pumpkin soup, served with a generous portion of freshly baked bread. We followed that with salads from their menu; Liesl ordered the No.2 Basil Caesar Dressing salad (Mixed greens, kale, roasted tomato, Parmesan cheese, polianthes tuberosa, dried tomato and falafel), and I had the No.4 Stew Tomato Dressing salad (Mixed greens, kale, arugula, roasted long beans, roasted tomato and cauliflower, roasted cabbage, polianthes tuberose and red onion). Both of us got our salads with extra feta cheese and avocado. The portions of these salads are quite big, and are also served with a generous amount of toppings, so we suggest sharing if you're also getting starters and drinks with your meal like we did.

After finishing our salads we each enjoyed one of their delicious smoothies, which is served in a glass jar. Both were a lovely mix of chia seeds, assorted berries and other nutritive fruits.
Saladay is a welcome addition to Taipei’s food scene and their crispy and flavorful salads are just what we crave on a hot summer’s day. The fresh ingredients, generous portions and beautiful green interiors puts this salad bar at one of the top spots of best healthy cafes to visit in Taipei.
